I am very pleased to announce we have a new Vice President for CCCARN. Diedre Bricker has assumed the position. We will have elections in May for new officers. Please contact me for open positions.
As we begin this year, we are also gathering information to help our organization meet member needs. Please complete the "CCCARN Survey."
I want to encourage everyone to join us for networking opportunities and educational CE's. As always, we will continue to have our Monthly meetings where light meals are provided. Meetings are held on the second Wednesday of the following months: January, February, March, May, June, September, October and November.
Location: Most of our meetings take place at Craig Hospital in Englewood, CO.
Time: 6:00-7:00p business meeting/networking.
7:00-8:00p education activity CE's provided.

Objectives:

2. Understand the clinical and radiographic differences between diffuse and focal brain injuries

"Working with Horses: Enhancing Spinal Cord Patient Education"
Objectives:
By the end of this presentation participants will have:
1. Identified key elements of a unique educational experience.
2. Discussed the benefits of the experience for patients with SCI.
3. Examined evaluation results and future development plans.
"History of Traumatic Brain Injury in the US Military: Civil War to Iraq and Afghanistan"
Objectives:
1. Discuss the history of traumatic brain injury rehabilitation in military service members and veterans from the Civil War to Operation Iraqi Freedom/Operation Enduring Freedom (OIF/OEF)
2. Distinguish occurrences of mild TBI, moderate TBI and severe TBI in returning active duty and veterans of OIF/OEF
3. Describe the relationship of post traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) and mild TBI on psychosocial functioning of the veteran and the implication for practice of rehabilitation and psychiatric nurses

1. Describe the benefits of Equine therapy for soldiers re-adapting to civilian life.
